EXPANDING MEMBER VALUE WITH THE CMSA FOUNDATION

0

CMSA’s best kept secret is a member benefit that is often underutilized. It is time to spill the beans! Members often need support to further their professional growth or have a desire to actively advance the profession. The CMSA Foundation has several programs in place to support CMSA members in the areas of education, public policy, research, and outcomes, as well as membership or conference attendance support.

Originally incorporated almost a decade ago, it has been only in recent years that the Foundation has begun to shine and showcase its value through the generous support of CMSA members — individuals, chapters, and employers.

The work of the Foundation would not be possible without the enthusiastic and hardworking CMSA Foundation Board, putting in countless hours to support a clear vision: a better future for the case management industry through collaborative, inclusive community of healthcare professionals working together to build industry-wide solutions to case management issues.

CMSA members have benefited from the fruits of their labor over the last couple of years through these programs:

INTEGRATED CASE MANAGEMENT TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP: This training is ideal for case managers interested in advancing their management skill-set working with at-risk populations with multiple chronic conditions, including both medical and behavioral conditions, and the presence of social or health system barriers. You can apply for the costs of the training through the Foundation. Scholarship value is over $1,225 for virtual training. Deadline to apply for the Spring ICM Training is February 1.

MARGARET LEONARD PUBLIC POLICY GRANT (MLPPG): This grant is designed to support individuals who have a passion for public policy and need support for a program offering grassroots education to others about issues affecting health policy while supporting CMSA initiatives. Grant recipients may receive between $2,500-$5,000 depending on the program and funding available. Deadline to apply for the MLPPG is January 31.

RESEARCH AND OUTCOMES RECOGNITION: The CMSA Foundation recognizes individuals and organizations that produce outcomes from a research or quality/performance improvement project for innovation in advancement of case management practice and/or improved client outcomes. Applicants may choose from either the award category of Case Management Practice Improvement or Case Management Research. Recognition is given at the annual conference, as well as the opportunity to author an article in CMSA Today and to present a webinar on the findings. Each recipient also receives a $1,500 honorarium based on available funding. Award application deadlines is March 1.

Other opportunities throughout the year may become available based on funding sources, including CMSA membership support and CMSA Annual Conference support.

These programs can only continue and grow through continuous support from CMSA members, chapters, and employers.

ONE-TIME DONATIONS: Great way to donate a tax-deductible amount before year-end.

MONTHLY-RECURRING DONATIONS: The Friends of the Foundation monthly giving has become a popular option, allowing consistent donations each month. This tax-deductible option allows donors the opportunity to give more annually than they could with a one-time donation.

HONOR A CASE MANAGER: The Foundation has a special program allows you to donate while recognizing a case manager with a special email notecard or a video. These special case managers are also highlighted on our Wall of Fame. Donations from this program are used to directly support CMSA memberships and conference registrations.

MARGARET LEONARD PUBLIC POLICY FUND: This special fund was designed to fulfill Peggy’s passion and dream of advancing the profession of case management through public policy. These funds directly support the Margaret Leonard Public Policy Grant.

DONATE TIME: Our volunteers are key to creating a healthy and active Foundation. The Chapter Ambassador Program is one example of how individuals can donate their time to help support and spread the word about the Foundation while actively seeking donations from supporters.

SHOP AND SUPPORT: Donations can be created by simply shopping! CMSA Foundation participates in AmazonSmile, allowing you to shop for everyday items and gifts on AmazonSmile while Amazon donates back to the Foundation on eligible purchases. The CMSA Foundation also has a product store allowing you to find the perfect gift for your favorite case manager and proceeds are given back to the Foundation.
