It’s certainly the education and the speakers, but it’s also the conversations that happen between sessions, the colleagues reconnecting after months apart, the first-time attendees discovering they’ve found their professional home, and the shared commitment to improving the lives of the people we serve.

The conference may last only a few days, but its impact carries well beyond the closing session.

As we return to our organizations, we take new ideas, fresh perspectives, and renewed energy back to our teams. At CMSA, we’re doing the same.

The months following the conference are some of our busiest because that’s when many of the ideas and conversations from the event begin to take shape. Volunteers are back to work, committees are meeting, educational programs are moving forward, and we’re building resources that help support case managers throughout the year.

This fall, members can look forward to a number of opportunities to stay connected and continue learning. Our 2nd Annual Virtual Leadership Conference will bring together current and aspiring leaders to share practical strategies for navigating today’s healthcare environment. Military/Veteran/DOD (MVD) Day will once again provide focused education for case managers working in this important specialty. We’ll also continue expanding our Pathways curriculum while growing our new Utilization Management Competency Credential, which gives case managers an opportunity to demonstrate specialized knowledge in one of healthcare’s most important and rapidly evolving practice areas. October also brings National Case Management Week, one of our favorite times of the year to celebrate the extraordinary work of case managers and recognize the impact you make every day. We look forward to celebrating with you!

We’re also excited about the release of CMSA’s new position paper on the CMS Innovation Center’s ACCESS Model. As healthcare organizations begin preparing for this important initiative, the paper highlights the essential role professional case managers play in delivering coordinated, patient-centered care and gives members a practical resource they can use to educate colleagues, engage organizational leaders, and advocate for the value of professional case management within their organizations.

Of course, education is only one part of what CMSA does. Throughout the year, we’re also advocating for the profession, strengthening partnerships, supporting our chapters, welcoming new volunteers, and creating opportunities for members to connect with one another. Every initiative is guided by the same goal: helping case managers succeed so they can continue making a difference for the patients, clients, families, and communities they serve.

Whether you joined us in Las Vegas or have been following along from home, thank you for being part of the momentum. Your ideas, your expertise, and your willingness to invest in this profession are what make our community so strong.

The excitement of conference may be behind us, but the work is just getting started. We have a great deal to look forward to in the months ahead as we continue building on the ideas, connections, and inspiration that began in Las Vegas.
